Pinehurst, NC — Community leader and longtime civic volunteer Kevin
Fitzpatrick has officially announced his candidacy for a seat on the Pinehurst
Village Council. A resident of Pinehurst since 2020, Fitzpatrick has been a
visible and active force in Village life since his arrival.
Fitzpatrick currently serves as President of the No. 6 Community Association,
where he is in his second term. He also contributes his time and insight as a
member of the Village’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee and the Pinehurst
Development Ordinance Task Force.
“I’m running because I believe in Pinehurst and that I have the tools to help
guide our future. I also believe strongly in the right of local communities to
govern their own affairs,” Fitzpatrick said. “We’ve seen repeated efforts in
Raleigh that would have abolished local control — and enough is enough.
Planning and zoning, growth, housing, transportation, government
operations, public safety, and amenities are all critical issues. I’ll be
discussing in detail my ideas about these, and others as the campaign
evolves. At the same time, I want these matters to be addressed by local
officials — and always with the best interests of our residents in mind.
Because we know what’s best for us.”
In addition to his local leadership, Fitzpatrick brings decades of high-level
executive experience to his candidacy. He was the founding Chief Executive
Officer of CancerLinQ™, a national data-sharing and learning initiative
focused on improving cancer care. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice
President and Chief Innovation Officer at the American College of Cardiology,
leading efforts to enhance cardiovascular and diabetes care across the
country.
His professional background also includes senior roles with Duke University
Medical Center and the global medical publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
Fitzpatrick is a dedicated community volunteer beyond the boardroom. He is
an active member of Pinehurst Rotary and has served as Course Captain for
U.S. Kids Golf at Course No. 6 for the past three years. In recognition of his
commitment to community service, Fitzpatrick was recently named the
Village of Pinehurst’s Volunteer of the Year.
Kevin and his wife, Ann, chose Pinehurst as their retirement home for its
strong sense of community and quality of life. “This is a special place, and
we’re proud to call it home,” he said. “Serving on the Village Council is an
opportunity to give back and help shape a future that honors Pinehurst’s
traditions while thoughtfully addressing the needs of tomorrow.”
